What is Celebrate Recovery?
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program that has helped people in churches around the world since 1991. It is built on eight principles drawn from the Beatitudes (Matthew 5) and the twelve steps, with Jesus Christ as the one and only Higher Power. It is a safe place to find freedom from the things that keep you stuck, with people who have walked the same road.
It is not just for drugs and alcohol. People come to Celebrate Recovery for anger, grief and loss, anxiety and depression, codependency, food, relationships, past abuse, pornography, gambling, and chemical dependency. Many come because life simply hurts and they want somewhere honest to talk about it.
What to expect on your first Thursday
Walk in a few minutes before 6:30. Someone will meet you at the door and show you where to go. A typical night has three parts:
- Large group. We open together with worship, prayer and either a lesson on one of the principles or a testimony from someone whose life has changed.
- Newcomers welcome. On your first visit, a leader will walk you through how Celebrate Recovery works and answer your questions. You only need to do this once.
- Open share small groups. Men and women meet separately in small groups where you can share, or just listen. What is said in the group stays in the group, and you can pass at any time.
Come as you are. Wear what you like. Bring a friend if it helps. There is nothing to sign and nothing to pay.
Childcare
Childcare is available for ages 11 and under during the meeting. Please register your child online before you come so our volunteers can plan for them. The QR code on the flyer below goes to the same form.
Where we meet
Celebrate Recovery meets at Spirit City Church North Etowah, 231 Pennsylvania Ave, Etowah, TN 37331. Star Bethel hosts the ministry there because it needs more room than our County Road 890 building has. Park in the church lot and look for the Celebrate Recovery signs.
Questions?
